Sarah competing
The thing I’m most proud of for Coach Sarah’s comp is that she was the first person in the pool AND almost finished it. She did such an amazing job. Sarah has said she doesn’t like swimming and if you talk to her one on one she might say other things about it too.
Sarah accomplished some things this weekend and the last few months that we should all be proud of.
#1 she showed up
Over and over again Sarah decided to show up. She showed up in the gym even when she really didn’t want to. Even when she was tired and wiped out. She showed up. Even when she had responsibilities that would make training not a fun experience, she showed up. Even when she was tired of attempting muscle ups or doing trench drills, she showed up. She spent time in the water even when she was absolutely wiped from the week.
#2 she slowed down
Don’t think that all competitors do is go hard and only go hard. Sarah had to choose to have a deload. Her coach planned this for her in her programming. And she followed suit. She trusted the system. And that decision really paid off.
#3 she turned it up
When competition mode needed to be turned on she did it. What a cool thing to think about. Simply showing up and keeping your head in the game and looking for small wins is a big deal. The fact that credit is due for a simple act like getting on the competition floor shows how hard it really is to get out there in the first place.
The results? She ended up taking 4th. This was a better result than she expected. Can you learn anything from Sarah’s experience at Legends? I think so. I think it’s possible that we can boil this down to some simple lessons to put into practice in our lives. Show up, slow down, turn it up. Apply that to some areas in your life and some fun results might happen.
Christmas party fun
Kids running around playing basketball and hide and seek. The adults playing CrossFit and Christmas trivia, no Bre didn't have all the answers ahead of time… haha and great treats from everyone. Jenyse even brought some amazing apple cinnamon fritter. Melinda had the best wrapping paper ever. I have never seen someone get stolen from so many times in a white elephant gift exchange like Mary did. This year was great. Thanks to everyone that could make it.
