A no rep - means “I love you”

We don’t just hand out no reps to make people feel bad. They are there to remind us all of a standard for that movement or workout. We would rather your movement looks clean than your movement being fast. This has always been the case and is the CrossFit ethos. It is often the one that people forget though and it is a reason why CrossFit gets a bad rep.

So when we get into a movement and aren’t quite making depth or not quite hitting the target just mark scaled if you absolutely can’t make the standards. There is no harm in scaling a movement. It does feel really nice to RX a workout but there are days where that isn't possible for even our most advanced athletes.

Realize that I am a crazy person and sometimes plan a workout I want NO ONE to finish… So that means that sometimes the metcon will be so hard we all have to scale. And that is part of the mental toughness game that makes us better.

You all are amazing and are moving toward the right direction. Remember the One Step Forward mindset I spoke about on IG on. This mindset goes for everything in life. I like principle based living a lot. When a principle can get us there it makes it so nice. The principle here is don't hurt yourself for an RX score on the board. Write down in your notes on sugarwod that you scaled something and how you felt. That way next time when your shoulder, elbow or neck feels ready, you can do it to the fullest. One Step Forward…

When we no rep you remember it's because we love you. We want you prepared for the Open or for a local comp. Dealing with the no rep in class helps toward the future possible no rep in competition, big or small. So remember, “we love you”

Keep building,

James Cooper
